Dr. Anup Kasi is an Associate Professor in GI Medical Oncology at the University of Kansas Cancer Center, where he also serves as Vice Chair of the GI working group and Director of the molecular tumor board. He received his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, India, and went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Texas, where he completed his thesis project at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He completed an Internal Medicine residency, Hematology-Oncology, and GI Medical Oncology fellowship at the University of Kansas, as well as a Global Clinical Research Scholar program from Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Kasi's research interests include clinical and translational research in GI Cancers. He is a recipient of several grants including the American Cancer Society - Institutional Research Grant, Frontiers pilot research award, and Early phase trial pilot award. He is also the principal investigator of several ongoing clinical trials with targeted agents and immunotherapy. In recognition of his efforts, Dr. Kasi received the KUCC clinical trial accrual award in 2020 and 2022.
At a national level, Dr. Kasi is a member of the SWOG, ECOG, AGICC, and HCRN clinical trial working groups and has been honored with the SWOG Young investigator award for integrating PARPi in the treatment of pancreatic cancers that lead to the APOLLO trial for which he serves as the study co-chair. Dr. Kasi has also served on the NCI Pancreatic Cancer Task Force.
