Deepa Magge, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She earned her BA with summa cum laude distinction in 2004 and MD with cum laude designation in 2008 from Boston University as part of their seven-year medical program.
Dr. Magge completed her General Surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She completed numerous clinical and translational research studies describing regional therapies, including Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) for carcinomatosis secondary to multiple GI malignancies, as well as Isolated Hepatic Perfusion for unresectable liver metastases. Following completion of surgical residency, she remained at UPMC, where she completed a fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology. Following fellowship, she was an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at Mount Sinai in New York, where she served as the Associate Program Director of the CGSO fellowship. She joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2020. She has a myriad of first or last author publications as well as many other publications as a collaborating author.
Dr. Magge’s specific areas of interest include gastrointestinal (GI) surgical oncology, colorectal surgery, and cytoreductive surgery/HIPEC for peritoneal carcinomatosis.
She is currently board certified in General Surgery as well as Complex General Surgical Oncology.
